If you have used Google Docs then you might have wondered why it is not possible to simply right click on an embedded image and save it to your computer. You cannot even copy it from Google Docs and paste it in your desktop photo editor application. You can, however, use the screen shot or print screen feature and then paste the captured image into a photo editor and crop it. But there are better ways to download and save images from Google Docs.
Here are two methods for you to save an image placed inside a Google Document without using any extension. Make sure you open up a docs file that has the image that you want to extract.
Method 1: Publish to the web

- Hit the Publish button.
- When asked, confirm your action.
- You will get a public link. Open it up in your browser.
- Your document will open as a web page. Right click on the image and save it as any other image you would save from websites.
To stop making it publicly available, you can unpublish the document. Go to File > Publish to the web and click on Stop publishing.
