How to Reserve Windows 10 Free Upgrade

Microsoft says that July 29 is the day when Windows 10 will be released. The upgrade will be free for a one year period. Users who have Windows 7, 8 or 8.1 will be able to get this free update. It doesn’t matter whether you have a valid license or not. The free deal is available for everyone and is limited to the first year of release. After that it will come with a price tag.

The Requirements

If you are looking to reserve Windows 10 for the July 29, 2015 release date, then make sure to install the latest updates for your present Windows. You should have Windows 7, 8 or 8.1.

Go to Windows update and get all those important security and other updates. After downloading those updates, the installation will start and it will require you to restart your system after which the installation is finalized.

Now you are ready to reserve Windows 10.

How to Reserve

After booting up your machine, there will be a new icon in the task bar, the area where your system clock is. The icon looks something like this:

Click on it to access the Get Windows 10 screen.

On this new window that opens up, you will be able to access different information about the new Windows. The download will be around 3 GB. You will want to press the button that says “Reserve you free upgrade”.

After pressing the button, you will reach a confirmation screen saying that you will get Windows 10 after it is released on July 29. Your system will give you a notification to tell you that the download is complete and it is ready to proceed with the installation.
